Popular Music Icon Dies At 76
A popular music icon has died at 76.
NewsRain Nigeria reports that Dennis Locorriere has died aged 76 after a kidney disease, his management has confirmed.
It said in a statement: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Locorriere, who, after a long and courageous battle with kidney disease, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 16, 2026.
‘Dennis faced his illness with remarkable strength, dignity, and resilience throughout, and remained deeply cherished by all who knew him.

‘He will be remembered for his warmth, love, and the lasting impact he had on those around him.
‘We would like to thank everyone who supported Dennis during his journey and ask for privacy for his loved ones as they grieve this profound loss.’
The musician sang alongside Ray Sawyer, who died in 2019, in their 1970s band initially known as Dr Hook & The Medicine Show.
It was known for hits such as When You’re In Love With A Beautiful Woman, Sylvia’s Mother and Sharing The Night.
Locorriere was born in Union City, New Jersey, but had lived in the UK for 24 years before his death.
He founded the rock band with members Sawyer, Billy Francis, and George Cummings, before going solo.
Over his career, which spanned nearly six decades, Locorriere recorded more than 18 albums and continued touring in his 60s.
In 2014, more than 40 years on from their debut, the band reached number 11 on the top 40 chart with their album Timeless.
It was a 40-track collection of love songs, chart hits, and lesser-known tracks from their repertoire.
The musician was also a songwriter who had his songs recorded by artists including Bob Dylan, Olivia Newton-John, and Willie Nelson.
Tributes have been made on social media, with BoomRadioUK writing on X: ‘We’re so sad to hear of the death of Dennis Locorriere – the legendary voice at the heart of Dr Hook.
‘He was a remarkable performer, and we shall miss him.’
