Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has honored Iyalode Alaba Lawson with Amazon Award.
News Rain Nigeria gathered that as part of the activities to mark the 5th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, the Ooni bestowed the Amazon Award on Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson for her exemplary qualities and robust contributions towards the development of society and the world at large.
The award was presented to Lawson by the former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at the swimming pool side of Premier Hotels, Mokola Ibadan, Oyo State Capital.
Iyalode Alaba Lawson Honoured With Amazon Award
Speaking on the award Oba Ogunwusi said, Iyalode Lawson, is a proud daughter of the Yoruba race, whose contributions towards the developmental growth of the race and society at large cannot be shunned.
He said: “This was one of the qualities found in Lawson and deserved to be honored, the presentation of the award by the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo was a clear testimony that Lawson is a worthy daughter of Nigeria”
The Yoruba foremost traditional ruler also commended the awardee for her good work, and equally encouraged her not to relent in her efforts of putting smiles on the faces of the people, with a call on other women of repute to emulate her gestures.
In her remarks, the Iyalode Lawson said the award was historic in her life and expressed profuse appreciation, stressing that she would dedicate the award to womanhood, adding that the monarch had made her proud to do more
Also in his own remarks, former President Obasanjo described Lawson as a very formidable woman, a woman in man skin, as well as through and foremost educationist with one of the best school in the country, whose impact on the development of the country cut across and commended the royal father for honoring her.
The ceremony which was organized by Oodua Descendants Union and packaged by the Odua Group of Companies attracted dignitaries across the country, which include former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saa’rd Abubarkar, Alake of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Elegushi of Ikateland, Oba Saheed Ademola, Oniru of Iruland, Oba Gbolahan Lawal, Olu Itori of Egbaland, Oba Fatai Akamo and Iyalode of Yorubaland among others.
