Breaking News: Gowon Is Dead

Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, is very much alive, hale and hearty.

This is contrary to a report that went viral some hours ago that General Gowo is dead.

The man who bore the name Gowon, Professor Samuel Gowon Edoumiekumo, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the Niger Delta University in Bayelsa State, died on Saturday.

He was the Chairman of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities.

He died in Lagos early on Saturday, October 7, at the age of 53.

Edoumiekumor, a professor of economics and social sciencist, passed away from complications related to lung cancer.

Breaking News: Gowon Is Dead

Edoumiekumo obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from Akeindenowei Primary School, Toru Angiama, in 1982 and his West Africa School Certificate from Ajeromi Ifelodun High School, Lagos, in 1988.

He had a Bachelor of Science degree, a Master of Science Degree, and two Doctor of Philosophy degrees, which he obtained from the University of Port Harcourt and the University of Nigeria Nsukka in the field of Economics.
