Ooni of Ife and his first wife have welcomed twin boys.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the birth of twin princes with his wife, Olori Mariam Ajibola.

The monarch disclosed this in a post on his official Facebook page on Friday, describing the birth as a blessing to the Royal House of Oduduwa.

Ooni said both the mother and the children were in good health.

The statement reads, “To God be all the glory and adoration for His wondrous works and abundant blessings once again!

“Warmest congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa and to Olori Mariam Ajibola on the joyous arrival of twin princes to the royal throne of Oduduwa today.

“We give thanks to Almighty God as both mother and children are in good health.

Recall that the birth comes years after the monarch’s separation from Olori Naomi.

The Ooni married Olori Mariam in 2022, 10 months after his former wife, Naomi Silekunola, left him.

The Ooni later married six wives within three months in 2022, including Mariam Anako, Elizabeth Akinmuda, Tobiloba Philips, Ashley Adegoke, Ronke Ademiluyi, and Temitope Adesegun.

The new wife, who has a background in the oil and gas sector, was ushered into the palace after brief rites at the entrance.

Four years after the ceremony, Olori Mariam, an Ebira woman from Kogi State with family ties to Kwara State, has delivered twin boys for the Ooni.

While marking his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary, Ooni clarified why he married Mariam Anako and the others, explaining that he tried making some changes, but he couldn’t because of the traditional heritage of Ile Ife.
