Makinde’s Wife Donates Food, Cash To Widows
Mrs. Makinde has donated food, cash, and other items to widows.
News Rain reports that the Oyo State First Lady, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde recently donated foodstuffs, cash gifts, and other several items worth millions of naira to widows across the State.

The event which was held at the Presidential Lodge of the Government House Agodi Ibadan had top government officials in attendance.
Among them are the wife of the Deputy Governor, Prof. Mrs. Hamdalat Bolanle Olaniyan, the Secretary to the State government, Mrs. Olubanwo Adeosun, the Head of Service, Mrs. Ololade Agboola, the State commissioner for women affairs and social inclusion, Mrs. Joke Saani, Chief Mrs. Bose Adedibu, and many others.
Presenting the gifts to the widows who were selected from all the 33 local government areas in the State, Engr. Makinde noted that the relief materials that will be shared for the widows are meant to ease them off of the borden that the Covid-19 has already added to their families.
Makinde said, we are here to celebrate with you today, as we understand your plight, we choose today to commemorate the 2020 International Widow’s Day, the present government in the State has the interest of the widows at heart, and I promise that we will continue to make policies that will empower you.
“I understand that your daily needs might have been increased due to the effect of the Coronavirus, and that is why I’m supporting you with all these gifts.
“There is rice, beans, vegetable oils, cash, and many other gifts items to share today, and I can assure you that this government understands your plight and ready to assist you with better empowerment.

“Widows, all over the world, face a lot of hardship such as to meet their daily needs and to also care for their children. Makinde noted that in some cases, widows are forced to partition harmful and degrading traditional practices.
Makinde stressed that widows struggle to meet their daily needs in developing countries like Nigeria, most especially at the pandemic time.
Makinde’s Wife Said This
She said “I quite understand that their basic need for survival has increased, that is the reason why I decided to choose today to celebrate with you, I still look forward to solid plans that you can benefit from, the State government will provide an empowerment program that you and your children will benefit from.

The welfare of widows is among the priorities of this administration, so I can assure you all of continuous supports and empowerment. Mrs. Makinde stressed.
The donation event was well attended by top government officials in the state, among them are the wife of the Deputy Governor, Prof. Mrs. Hamdalat Bolanle Olaniyan, the Secretary to the State government, Mrs. Olubanwo Adeosun, the Head of Service, Mrs. Ololade Agboola, the State commissioner for women affairs and social inclusion, Mrs. Joke Saani, Chief Mrs. Bose Adedibu, and many others.
Mrs. Makinde however distributed the food items and cash to all the women at the program urged them to do whatever they can to boost themselves, so they will not be subjected to self-pity.

Some beneficiaries that spoke with the News Rain commended the kind gesture of her excellency, described her as a real role model that has a large heart. They also prayed for her and her husband for a successful tenure in office.
Princess Monriat Ajagbe Inuolaji the wife of the caretaker chairman for Ogbomoso North Local Government also commended the State First Lady for donations for the widows, she also noted that the all the beneficiaries were selected from all the 33 Local Government Area of the State.
Princess Monriat stressed that the items are going to be distributed to the widows and also affirmed that the State through the office of her Excellency which has promised to always make life better for the widows, and women across the State.
