FULL LIST: APC Picks Chairmanship Candidates For 55 Lagos Councils

APC, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has produced chairmanship candidates for 55 out of the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) ahead of the July 12 local government elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the candidates emerged on Saturday during the party’s primaries held in Ikeja.

While some candidates were returned through consensus, others were elected by delegates.

Out of the expected 1,539 delegates, voting did not hold in Yaba LCDA and Mainland LCDA due to pending litigations, and delegates from those areas were absent.

In the remaining 55 LGs/LCDAs, 27 delegates each participated in the voting.

Announcing the results, Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Babatunde Ogala, said four candidates emerged via consensus and were affirmed by delegates:

They are;

  • Isa Jubril (Iba LCDA)
  • Motunrayo Gbadebo (Ijede LCDA)
  • Rasaq Kasali (Lekki LCDA)
  • Azeez Kareem (Otto Awori LCDA)

Others emerged through contested primaries, including:

  • Usman Hamzat (Ifako-Ijaiye LG)
  • Hameed Aroyehun (Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA)
  • Oluyemisi Rosiji (Ojokoro LCDA)
  • Moyosore Ogunlewe (Kosofe LG)
  • Olufemi Okeowo (Ifelodun LCDA)
  • Olamilekan Akindipe (Ajeromi-Ifelodun LG)
  • Suleiman Yusuf (Surulere LG)
  • Azeez Ogidan (Coker Aguda LCDA)
  • Tola Oyedele (Agboyi-Ketu LCDA)
  • Taoreed Taiwo (Ejigbo LCDA)
  • Muibi Alade (Lagos Island East)
  • Sanusi Ismail (Amuwo-Odofin LG)
  • Muibat Rufia (Ojo LG)
  • Taiwo Oyekan (Lagos Island LG)

Some aspirants and their agents protested the results in a few areas.

Ogala acknowledged the possibility of human errors and encouraged aggrieved aspirants to appeal the outcomes through the party’s Appeal Committee, which has the authority to overturn decisions based on valid evidence.

He commended the delegates for their patience and described the exercise as transparent and in the party’s best interest.

Councillorship primaries were also held across wards in the state.
